About The Position

Corewell Health is hiring a Medical Assistant for its gastroenterology practice in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and offers a $3,000 sign-on bonus to eligible external applicants or current CHW MA Apprentice Students. The practice cares for patients with acute and chronic conditions, including esophageal issues, pancreas and liver conditions, lower abdominal symptoms, Crohn’s disease, colitis, liver diseases, and cancer. Patients may receive ongoing care or one-time consultations.

The Medical Assistant joins a clinical support team and works closely with healthcare professionals to help deliver patient care. The practice describes its culture as collaborative, with providers, nurses, medical assistants, and patient service representatives working closely together. The role is based in an outpatient gastroenterology clinic and is full-time, scheduled for 40 hours per week on the day shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program that includes hands-on, in-person clinical skills training, or at least one year of experience working specifically as a Medical Assistant, LPN, Paramedic, or EMT performing direct patient care and clinical support functions consistent with MA scope of practice.
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days.
• One of the following certifications required within 120 days: AAMA Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), AMT Registered Medical Assistant (RMA), NHA Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), NCCT Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA), or NAHP Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA).
