About The Position
The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Associate (MA/PSA) plays a crucial role in supporting the physician practice at Glenbrook Hospital. This full-time position involves a combination of administrative and clinical tasks to ensure efficient patient flow and excellent patient care. The role requires flexibility to work Monday-Friday shifts between 7 AM and 7 PM, with occasional Saturday rotations. The MA/PSA will also be expected to flex between various ortho locations as needed, including Skokie, Lincolnshire, and Des Plaines.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
- One year of work experience required
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required
- Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required
- Previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred.
- On the job training is provided for those who do not have previous medical assistant training or experience
Responsibilities
- Answer phones
- Schedule appointments
- Collect co-payments
- Complete patient registration
- Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
- Check in and check out patients
- Verify insurances
- Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms
- Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
- Provide front office support as needed
- Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
- Phlebotomy and injections may be required
