About The Position
The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant (MA/PSA) role is a part-time position (24 hours per week) within the Medical Group Ortho Peds. The role involves providing administrative and clinical support to a physician practice, with a focus on patient interaction and support. The position requires travel to other sites as needed for coverage. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent work experience is required.
- CPR certification through the American Heart Association required
- One year of work experience required
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited medical assisting program is preferred, but not required
- Medical Assistant Certification (AMT or AAMA) is preferred, but not required
- Previous experience working in a medical office (or related field) is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Answer phones
- Schedule appointments
- Collect co-payments
- Complete patient registration
- Provide other administrative support to the physician practice
- Check in and check out patients
- Verify insurances
- Greet patients and escort them to exam room
- Document vital signs, allergies, medications and reason for office visit
- Provide front office support as needed
- Perform basic vitals like BP, height and weight
- Phlebotomy and injections may be required
