About The Position

The Medical Assistant/Patient Support Assistant supports a physician practice in Medical Group Ortho Sport at locations in Gurnee and Lincolnshire, Illinois. This full-time position is 40 hours per week and includes rotating weekday hours between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, as well as rotating weekend hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. The role requires some travel to other locations and flexible hours to meet operational needs. On-the-job training is provided for candidates without previous medical assistant training or experience. Phlebotomy and injections may be required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent work experience.
CPR certification through the American Heart Association.
One year of work experience.

Nice To Haves

Graduation from an accredited medical assisting program.
Medical Assistant Certification from AMT, AAMA, ARMA, CCMA, CMA, MAC, or AMCA.
Previous experience working in a medical office or related field.

Responsibilities

Answer phones.
Schedule appointments.
Collect co-payments.
Complete patient registration.
Provide other administrative support to the physician practice.
Check patients in and out.
Verify insurance.
Greet patients and escort them to the exam room.
Document vital signs, allergies, medications, and the reason for the office visit.
Provide front-office support as needed.
Perform basic vital-sign measurements, including blood pressure, height, and weight.
Perform phlebotomy and injections when required.
