About The Position

Gastroenterology & Hepatology Specialists, Inc. is hiring a full-time Medical Assistant for its clinic in Canton, Ohio. The role combines patient scheduling and medical assistant duties, including scheduling procedures and other services, supporting physicians during office visits, recording patient information, and responding to patient questions. Candidates must have previous experience working as a Scheduler, knowledge of medical terminology, and American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification. Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working as a Scheduler.
• American Heart Association BLS/CPR certification.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology.

• Previous experience working as a Medical Assistant.
• Previous experience working in a medical office environment.

Responsibilities

• Schedule patients for procedures at the clinic, ambulatory surgery center (ASC), and hospital, as well as radiology and lab work.
• Reschedule cancelled procedures.
• Measure and document vital signs, including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature, in the patient’s chart when applicable.
• Obtain, verify, and record patients’ health histories.
• Assist the physician with office visits.
• Assist the physician in an emergency, if applicable.
• Manage patient prescriptions as directed by the physician.
• Manage referrals as directed by the physician.
• Answer patient questions.
• Notify patients of test results.
• Schedule research patients.
