About The Position

Kidney and hypertension specialists treat patients with common and rare kidney disorders in an environment that fosters collaboration and innovation in diagnosis and treatment. Our specialists work together in a coordinated team environment to provide innovative and compassionate clinical care. By joining the Nephrology team as a Medical Assistant, you will collaborate with fellow staff to create a welcoming, comfortable environment for patients, families and visitors. You will assist with medication management, patient monitoring, administrative tasks and more. You may also travel to Tradition Hospital and Tiffany, depending on the provider’s schedule. All your work helps ensure the best possible health outcomes. Additionally, you will receive ample opportunities to enhance your skills, gain hands-on experience, and explore advanced positions at Cleveland Clinic. A caregiver in this position works Monday-Friday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM. Martin North will be the primary work location, but floating to Tradition and Tiffany will be required, as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited Medical Assisting Program
  • Military training as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) will be considered
  • Current demonstrated clinical proficiency
  • Completion of a clinical externship or extensive clinical experience
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross required within new hire period

Nice To Haves

  • CMA, NCMA or CCMA certification
  • Successful completion of CC Externship
  • Previous Nephrology experience

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing screening and treatments by gathering information related to health maintenance, collecting specimens and documenting patient care.
  • Update health maintenance at patient visits, accurately identifies medication changes, and updates allergy information at each visit.
  • Monitor and communicate changes in patient condition.
  • Administer specific medications under the direction of the provider.
  • Maintain equipment and medical supplies, including reordering, stocking, cleaning and troubleshooting.
  • Maintain examination areas.
  • Assist in pre-visit planning by updating the health maintenance tab.
  • Perform administrative or clerical duties as assigned, including filing, reception, scheduling, data entry and patient registration.
