Sanford Health•Stevens Point, WI
•$19 - $30

About The Position

Sanford Health is seeking a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse for its Family Practice clinic. The role is based primarily at the Wisconsin Rapids clinic, with as-needed staffing coverage in Stevens Point. The clinic has a team-focused environment supported by four established primary care providers and serves patients across the lifespan, from pediatrics to geriatrics. The schedule is consistently 2–3 days per week. In the ambulatory care setting, the Medical Assistant collects subjective and objective health-status data from patients or caregivers and communicates it to the health care provider. The MA contributes data to licensed health care professionals, follows through on the patient’s care plan under provider direction, and communicates specifically defined written care instructions to patients or caregivers. Duties include supporting preventative care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow-up; obtaining vital signs; preparing patients for examinations; observing and reporting signs or symptoms; and performing point-of-care testing. The MA works under the direct supervision of a person licensed to practice medicine and within the applicable scope-of-practice guidelines. The LPN participates in implementing and evaluating patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN helps ensure patient health, comfort, and safety; documents medical histories; contributes to patient assessment; administers ordered medications or treatments; provides technical support to healthcare professionals; and counsels patients and family members on prevention and treatment plans under the direction of a registered nurse. The LPN practices within the scope of nursing expertise and applies age- and population-specific standards for the assigned clinical setting.
