About The Position

Sanford Health is hiring a Medical Assistant or Licensed Practical Nurse for its Dermatology department. The primary location is Wausau, with possible coverage in Stevens Point as needed. The schedule is Monday through Thursday, with 10-hour day shifts and 40 scheduled hours per week. The Medical Assistant works within the administration's predefined scope-of-practice guidelines for the state where they practice. In the ambulatory care setting, the MA collects subjective and objective health-status information from patients or caregivers and communicates it to the healthcare provider. The MA contributes data to licensed healthcare professionals, follows through on the patient's plan of care under provider direction, and communicates specifically defined written care instructions to patients or caregivers. The role supports patients across the lifespan through preventive care, health maintenance, treatment, and follow-up. Duties may include obtaining vital signs, preparing patients for examinations, observing and reporting signs or symptoms, and performing point-of-care testing, under the direct supervision of a person licensed to practice medicine. The Licensed Practical Nurse participates in implementing and evaluating patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse, advanced practice provider, or physician. The LPN supports patients' health, comfort, and safety; documents medical histories; contributes to patient assessments; administers ordered medications or treatments; and provides technical support to healthcare professionals. Under a registered nurse's direction, the LPN counsels patients and family members on prevention and treatment plans and practices within the full scope of nursing expertise, applying age- and population-specific standards for the assigned clinical setting. The salary range is $19.00–$29.50. The position may be eligible for a sign-on bonus.
