About The Position

Mass General Brigham is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to patient care, research, teaching, and community service. We are seeking an experienced Medical Assistant Lead to join our state-of-the-art facility in Danvers, MA. This role is focused on improving patient access and meeting evolving healthcare needs through a compassionate, family-focused approach. The Medical Assistant Lead will work Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, supervising 12 Medical Assistants and fostering a supportive and efficient clinical environment. The position involves overseeing daily schedules, implementing new workflows, ensuring effective communication, reviewing charge reconciliation, assisting with vaccine coordination, and collaborating with the training team. The MA Lead will also room patients as needed and interact with leadership, staff, and other offices, requiring strong organizational skills, time management, and flexibility. The role is a vital member of the care team, responsible for leadership and oversight of clinical operations and Medical Assistant staff under the direction of the Practice Manager. The Lead acts as a liaison between clinical staff, the Practice Manager, and the Medical Director or Physicians, facilitating communication, coordinating initiatives, and resolving clinical issues to enhance operational efficiency. This position requires patient care.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of direct Medical Assistant experience, preferably in a primary care setting.
  • Prior experience in a clinical leadership role.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant - required.
  • Experience as a medical assistant, with demonstrated proficiency in clinical and administrative tasks 3-5 years required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the medical assisting team, including training, mentoring, and performance guidance.
  • Assign tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring proper workload distribution and effective utilization of resources.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
  • Coordinate patient flow, ensuring timely and efficient delivery of care.
  • Assist with patient intake, including obtaining medical history, vital signs, and preparing patients for examination.
  • Participates in the interview process for new MAs and serves as a preceptor for new hires or students, supervising clinic support staff and creating coverage schedules for the MA team.
  • Assists with competency assessment for other MAs and provides input on performance evaluations.
  • Oversee and coordinate the daily schedules of the Medical Assistants.
  • Support the implementation of new workflows and processes.
  • Ensure effective verbal and written communication across the team.
  • Reviewing charge reconciliation.
  • Assisting with vaccine coordination.
  • Collaborating closely with the training team to support staff development.
  • Room patients as needed.
  • Interact regularly with leadership, staff, and other offices.
  • Assists in complex office-based procedures and provides clinical oversight for quality control programs.
