About The Position

The Medical Assistant III performs administrative and clinical duties under the direct supervision of a supervisor or provider. Administrative duties may include answering phones, scheduling appointments, and entering data in medical records. Clinical duties include measuring and recording vital signs, collecting demographic or medical information—including reviewing medication lists—preparing patients for examinations, cleaning rooms and equipment, and stocking supplies. The role involves administering medications.

This is a part-time position in the Skin Care department at Steeplechase Family Physicians in Springfield, Missouri. The schedule is 24 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 12:20 p.m., on the day shift.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Effective September 1, 2020, graduation from or completion of a formal medical assistant training program that included pharmacology, anatomy and physiology, the basics of medication administration, and a clinical externship.
• Certification or registration from a CoxHealth-approved certification program: CMA/AAMA, RMA/AMT, CCMA/NHA, NRCMA/NAHP, NCMA/NCCT, or RMA/AAMP.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team.
• Proficient computer skills.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in work involving direct contact with people.
• Previous experience in a healthcare setting, particularly an ambulatory clinic setting.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, schedule appointments, and enter data in medical records as needed.
