About The Position

NeighborHealth is seeking a Medical Assistant for its busy specialties and Winthrop Family Medicine Department. Medical Assistants are important members of the clinical care team and work closely with clinical staff to manage efficient patient flow and provide assistance as needed. They perform department-specific tasks in accordance with their training, prepare patients and the environment for visits and procedures where appropriate, and maintain non-pharmaceutical supplies and equipment. The role includes patient-care responsibilities that address the physical and emotional needs of the department’s patient age groups. Medical Assistants are supervised by licensed nursing personnel. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, with a possible evening rotation. The position is based at 17 Main Street – WCHC.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Graduate of a Certified Medical Assistant program.
One year of customer service experience.
Excellent oral, listening, and written communication skills.
Computer literacy.

Nice To Haves

One year of Medical Assisting experience.
Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Responsibilities

Manage efficient patient flow and assist clinical staff as needed.
Perform department-specific tasks in accordance with training.
Prepare patients and the environment for visits and procedures where appropriate.
Maintain non-pharmaceutical supplies and equipment.
Provide patient care addressing the physical and emotional needs of the department’s patient age groups.
Take vital signs and perform pulse oximetry.
Use oxygen equipment.
Obtain EKGs.
Perform laboratory studies such as glucometer testing and urine dip-stick urinalysis, as well as other studies as requested.
Clean and wrap instruments for sterilization.
Follow autoclave operating procedures and properly document each load.
