Medical Assistant II - IRL Internal Medicine (100%)
About The Position
The Iowa River Landing General Internal Medicine clinic is seeking a Medical Assistant II. Under the direct supervision of a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse, the Medical Assistant II performs technical, patient care, and related clerical functions in an ambulatory setting. Duties may involve electronic word or data processing equipment and conventional office equipment. This is a 100% position scheduled for 40 hours per week. Variable hours are worked Monday through Thursday between 7:30 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Friday between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., with rotating Saturdays. The position is located at Iowa River Landing in Iowa City, Iowa.
Requirements
- Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant, or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant program.
- Alternatively, completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program, including pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, medication administration including dose calculation, and psychology. Educational transcripts must be included during the application process.

Responsibilities
- Facilitate the smooth flow of patients through the clinic through interaction with patients, families, and staff.
- Assist with patient physical examinations and related treatments, including obtaining patient histories and managing medication records, allergies, and immunizations.
- Manage internal and external medical records to ensure accurate and complete data is available for patient appointments.
- Perform related clerical tasks, including answering phones and completing paperwork.
- Assist with medication refills and obtaining insurance pre-authorizations.
