About The Position

The Medical Assistant I works as a member of Corewell Health’s clinical support team and collaborates with healthcare professionals to support patient care. Under the direction of management and physician leadership, the Medical Assistant performs and oversees functions within their scope of practice related to clinical activities. The role supports patient flow and healthcare delivery, performs technical procedures and clinically oriented activities, and helps management achieve office efficiencies in accordance with policies and procedures. The position focuses on supporting physicians, clinical staff, and management while promoting customer satisfaction. This role is part of the Ambulatory Float Pool, with variable hours between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. on variable weekdays, Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Successful completion of a competency-based Medical Assistant training program, or six months of experience within the last seven years as an LPN, EMT, ER Tech, or paramedic.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 30 days.

Nice To Haves

• May consider a nursing student enrolled in an accredited registered or licensed practice nurse program after beginning a clinical course of study.
• One year of relevant experience working in a physician practice or healthcare setting.
