About The Position

Harborview - Robert Clewis Clinic - Needle Exchange Program has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a clinic providing low barrier access to medical, mental health, chemical dependency and case management services. Robert Clewis Center is a low-cost medical clinic that offers services such as abscess treatment and care, HIV/hepatitis testing and counseling, Hepatitis A and B vaccinations, colds and upper respiratory infection care, TB screening, access to treatment, reproductive health services, and Narcan availability. The position is conveniently located near public transportation and offers an opportunity to make a difference for patients and employees, with potential for career growth.

Requirements

Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
Wound care and phlebotomy
Perform injections
Prepare and clean exam rooms
Submit medication prior authorizations
Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
Assist in transporting patients as required
