About The Position

UW Medical Center-Northwest - Otolaryngology has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a part-time position, 50% FTE, working 20 hours per week on the Day Shift. The Otolaryngology Clinic at UW Medical Center - Northwest is a specialty clinic where physicians, an allergy technician, and clinical audiology staff treat all disorders of the ear, nose, and throat (ENT). The clinic combines experts from various fields for a comprehensive approach to healthcare, offering advanced medical and surgical treatment for a wide range of ear, nose, and throat, as well as head and neck, sleep, and allergy conditions for both adults and children. The audiology staff provides diagnostic hearing tests, hearing aids, custom hearing protection, and balance testing. The clinic is committed to safe, high-quality care in a warm, welcoming environment, focusing on close partnerships with patients for the best outcomes. Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform injections
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Submit medication prior authorizations
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Assist in transporting patients as required
