About The Position

UW Medical Center-Northwest - Otolaryngology has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a part-time position, 50% FTE, working 20 hours per week on the Day Shift. The Otolaryngology Clinic at UW Medical Center - Northwest specializes in treating all disorders of the ear, nose, and throat (ENT), including head and neck, sleep, and allergy conditions for both adults and children. Our team offers advanced medical and surgical treatments, diagnostic hearing tests, hearing aids, custom hearing protection, and balance testing. We are dedicated to providing safe, high-quality care in a warm, welcoming environment, fostering close partnerships with patients for optimal outcomes. Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform injections
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Submit medication prior authorizations
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Assist in transporting patients as required
