About The Position

Harborview - Orthopaedic Trauma has an outstanding opportunity for a Medical Assistant - Certified (MA-C). This is a full-time, 100% FTE (40 hours per week) position, working Monday-Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Day Shift. The Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery Clinic at Harborview Medical Center treats the most complex orthopaedic injuries among patients in the broader Pacific Northwest region, including Alaska. The clinic offers care for numerous conditions including bone fractures, soft tissue injuries, bone deformities and failure of bones to heal. Our team provides individualized treatment plans using non-surgical, minimal invasive and open surgical techniques. Requirements

  • Completion of a Medical Assistant course accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or other recognized regional or national accreditation board OR equivalent
  • Must be Washington State Medical Assistant-Certified or achieve this designation within 6-months of hire. Failure to achieve and/or maintain this designation will result in termination of employment
  • Valid American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Provider CPR card

Responsibilities

  • Room patients, take vital signs, and reconcile records
  • Perform injections
  • Prepare and clean exam rooms
  • Submit medication prior authorizations
  • Recognize symptoms of common medical illnesses and accurately report to provider
  • Act as a liaison between patient, patient’s family and providers
  • Assist provider with procedures and medical exams
  • Perform point of care testing and report abnormal laboratory values
  • Assist in transporting patients as required
