About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant performs services and related activities in support of patient care, including accurate patient registration and insurance verification. The role requires good judgment and effective communication with patients, families, licensed personnel, insurance companies, and third-party payers, along with a professional and caring manner. The Medical Assistant supports physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care and assists with patient accounts, scheduling, and office communications.

Requirements

• Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) certification is required.
• BLS certification is required.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of medical office experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Meet expectations of the applicable OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.
• Assist physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants in providing medical care.
• Enter charges accurately on patient accounts, register patients, and update patient accounts.
• Verify insurance and record statistics.
• Assist with scheduling patient appointments, answering phones, keeping providers informed of changes, and informing patients of their benefits.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
