About The Position

UW Health is seeking a Medical Assistant Apprentice for its 10-month Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program, designed for people interested in becoming Medical Assistants at UW Health. The program provides training during paid work time and includes in-person classes and clinical rotations. Apprentices gain hands-on experience with direct patient care tasks, processes, and procedures in an ambulatory setting, including administrative and general clinical procedures. Upon successful program completion, participants will be interviewed and placed in Medical Assistant positions within UW Health. The role is full-time, 100% FTE, for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Starting pay is $18.25 per hour; pay increases after graduation according to the Medical Assistant pay grade. The position is benefit eligible.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal acceptance into the UW Health Medical Assistant Clinical Apprentice Program.
• One year of prior work experience.
• CPR/BLS certification within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Attend in-person classes and participate in clinical rotations as part of the 10-month apprenticeship program.
• Gain hands-on experience in direct patient care tasks, processes, and procedures in an ambulatory setting, including administrative and general clinical procedures.
• Successfully complete the apprenticeship program and participate in an interview for placement in a Medical Assistant position within UW Health.
