About The Position

The Medical Assistant Apprentice joins UW Health’s 10-month Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program, which provides training on paid work time for people interested in becoming Medical Assistants at UW Health. Apprentices attend in-person classes and participate in clinical rotations, gaining hands-on experience with direct patient care tasks, processes, and procedures in an ambulatory setting, including administrative and general clinical procedures. Upon successful completion of the program, participants will be interviewed and placed in Medical Assistant positions within UW Health.

The schedule is full-time at 100% FTE, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM. Starting pay is $18.25 per hour. After program graduation, pay increases according to the Medical Assistant pay grade. The position is benefit eligible.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Formal acceptance into the UW Health Medical Assistant Clinical Apprentice Program.
• One year of prior work experience.
• CPR/BLS certification within 120 days.

Responsibilities

• Attend in-person classes as part of the 10-month Medical Assistant Apprenticeship Program.
• Participate in clinical rotations.
• Gain hands-on experience in direct patient care tasks, processes, and procedures in an ambulatory setting, including administrative and general clinical procedures.
• Upon successful program completion, participate in an interview for placement in a Medical Assistant position within UW Health.
