About The Position

Virginia Western Community College, a two-year public institution, is seeking part-time Certified Medical Administrative Assistant Instructors for day and/or evening classes. The instructors will teach students in classroom and skills lab settings to prepare them for the National Healthcareer Association (NHA) Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) exam. The college is located in Roanoke, VA, and serves a region including Roanoke, Salem, Roanoke County, Craig County, Franklin County, and southern Botetourt County. Established in 1966, the college currently serves over 9,000 students in credit courses and over 1,400 in workforce and continuing education courses. The School of Career and Corporate Training is responsible for this hiring.

Requirements

  • Certified Medical Administrative Assistant (CMAA) certification.
  • Ability to teach students in both classroom and skills lab settings.
  • Ability to deliver established course curriculum.
  • Ability to monitor student progress.
  • Ability to transfer knowledge in support of certification preparation.
  • Ability to troubleshoot classroom technical issues.
  • Ability to track equipment usage and inventory.
  • Ability to assess students for content mastery and skills proficiency.
  • Ability to maintain student attendance and grades in accordance with established policies.
