About The Position

The Department of Art, Media, Performance, and Design (AMPD) Media Technology & Facilities Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operational readiness of facilities and production infrastructure assigned in the AMPD Facilities Responsibility Matrix. The position reports directly to the AMPD Chair and combines hands-on operational work with coordination and administrative responsibilities. The manager oversees the Equipment Room and associated student workers; maintains equipment and inventory systems; performs first-line troubleshooting, routine maintenance, setup, adjustment, and minor repairs; coordinates specialized services; supports safe and reliable use of assigned spaces; coordinates operational purchasing, software renewals, vendors, and approved contracts; and supports approved departmental events and projects. This is an operational generalist role. The incumbent is expected to recognize the limits of their expertise, arrange specialized assistance when needed, and escalate policy, priority, significant financial, personnel, and strategic decisions to the Chair. Day-to-day authority covers routine matters within departmental priorities and University policy. Significant expenditures, policy changes, substantial facility modifications, contractual commitments beyond delegated authority, and unresolved competing priorities require appropriate Chair, College, or University approval. The position coordinates operations within its assigned scope and does not replace specialized University units or licensed technical services. The University offers full-time employees the opportunity to live on campus at below-market rental rates. The position also provides opportunities for training, professional development, and growth as provided by the University.
