Med Tech (Per-Diem)

About The Position

The Med Tech is a non-exempt, hourly position responsible for providing quality care and services to residents and their families. The role assists with medication administration according to residents’ care plans and physicians’ orders, under the supervision of an RN and/or LPN. The Med Tech also provides resident care, maintains accurate medical records and documentation, and helps preserve residents’ comfort, privacy, and dignity. The position reports to the Director of Health & Wellness and is scheduled per diem.

Requirements

Successful completion of Medication Technician training and periodic competency testing.
Ability to perform medication administration in accordance with state regulations.
Strong communication skills.
Knowledge of and ability to adhere to HIPAA policies.
High school diploma or equivalent.
At least six months of experience working with seniors in Personal Care, Home Health, a Hospital, or a Long-Term Care environment.
Ability to work weekends and holidays.
Ability to perform the physical activities described, including lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds and intermittently lifting and supporting residents; must use proper body mechanics.

Responsibilities

Administer prescribed medication and/or assist residents with self-administration in accordance with their care plans and physicians’ orders, under RN and/or LPN supervision.
Maintain medication-related medical records.
Complete required annual medication training.
Provide resident care to ensure care needs are met according to each resident’s care plan.
Maintain medical records and written documentation for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable regulations and standards.
Maintain residents’ comfort, privacy, and dignity when delivering services.
Observe and report changes in residents’ physical condition, cognition, and emotional status to a supervisor.
