This role involves applying technical experience in a specialized field or broad-based experience in multiple technical fields, and utilizing other technical resources within the company to resolve complex problems. The position requires incorporating advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features into problem-solving and program planning, such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes, and difficult coordination or oversight requirements. The candidate will provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as an expert in their functional area(s). They will develop solutions to complex technical problems, stay informed on technical needs within the company and technical trends in their area of expertise, and be aware of the capabilities of the work group and the needs of its customers. The role involves identifying technical programs that can be carried out with little guidance and taking the initiative to accomplish them, leading task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems, and preparing plans including schedules, budgets, and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management. This includes developing schedules, monitoring progress, monitoring budget expenditures, and reviewing the quality of work performed, incorporating research, development, testing, and quality assurance requirements. Communication of results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers, and oversight groups is essential, as is preparing reports for external publication. The candidate will be considered an internal expert in their area of expertise and contribute to advancing knowledge in their field through publications and professional society presentations. They must be able to solve complex problems in their field. This role provides design engineering staff augmentation support to SRNS. Primary responsibilities include engineering analysis, design development, and generation of design output documents such as Process Flow Diagrams, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, System Descriptions, Mechanical Equipment Lists, Mechanical Equipment Sizing, Pipe and Valve Specifications, Failure Analysis, Accident Analysis, Finite Element Analysis, ASME Code Design and Evaluation, Pipe Stress Analysis, Material Handling Design, Fire Protection Design, HVAC Design, and Vendor Document Reviews. Engineering services will be provided using SRNS processes and procedures, with programmatic guidance from SRNS.
