Looking to get the most out of your upcoming internship? Hatch is currently looking for a Mechanical Engineering Student to join our Project Delivery Group starting in September 2026, at our Trail, B.C. location. Candidates should demonstrate an interest in the field of Mechanical & Piping engineering. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and always be looking to learn new things. Trail is located 10 minutes from Rossland and the famous Red Mountain Resort. The Rossland region is a mecca for mountain biking in the summer and skiing / snowboarding in the winter. Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in Mechanical Engineering program at an accredited University.
  • Excel academically while being actively involved in extra-curricular and/or volunteer activities at school or in the community.
  • Willing to relocate to Trail, BC.
  • Ability to wear PPE effectively during site visits.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous co-op or work experience in mechanical engineering design and execution will be considered an asset.
  • Technical experience with mechanical design calculations, 3D modeling tools and software, and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (SharePoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) will be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently and as part of a team to complete mechanical and piping engineering design deliverables for a variety of projects.
  • Assist with mechanical engineering detailed design and deliverables.
  • Become knowledgeable with industrial mechanical design and their practical applications, regional codes and standards (CSA, ASME, ASHRAE, ISO, etc.), various engineering design tools and applications, and Hatch’s quality procedures.
  • Work collaboratively in a multi-discipline environment to deliver the best solution for our clients.
  • Assist our senior engineers and designers with their responsibilities including but not limited to writing study reports, 3D modelling, 2D drafting, gathering onsite information, checking engineering deliverables, attending design reviews, quality reviews, and participating in site inspections and walkdowns when required.
