About The Position

Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, is seeking a full-time, limited-term Mechanical Engineering Intern to join our Greenhouse Gas Reduction Mechanical Engineering Team in our West Allis, WI office. This internship is anticipated to begin in May/June 2027 and continue through August/September 2027. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience working alongside experienced engineers on meaningful projects that support sustainability and infrastructure improvements. There is also potential for this internship to transition into a full-time engineering position upon graduation. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern, you will support engineers and project teams on a variety of mechanical engineering projects while gaining exposure to all phases of project development and design.

Requirements

  • Completed at least four semesters of college-level coursework in Mechanical Engineering or a related field

  • Previous industrial internship experience
  • Mechanical design coursework in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and/or heat transfer
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Responsibilities

  • Assisting engineers with mechanical system design, analysis, and evaluation
  • Supporting design activities such as alternatives evaluation, equipment sizing, system layout development, and equipment selection/specification preparation
  • Assisting with the preparation and updating of drawings, technical memorandums, calculations, and project documentation
  • Gathering and organizing technical data in support of engineering studies and design projects
  • Utilizing engineering software and other design tools to support project development
  • Collaborating with mechanical engineers, project managers, designers, and other multidisciplinary team members
  • Developing technical skills through mentorship and guidance from experienced engineers
  • May participate in site visits, client meetings, and project coordination activities
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
