As a key member of the Service team, the Mechanic Shop Foreman plays a vital role in keeping our rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely, reliably, and effectively.

Requirements

Must be either a licensed Heavy Equipment Mechanic or licensed Automotive Technician with a red seal.
Must have strong diagnostic and failure analysis skills.
Hands-on experience repairing and maintaining a wide range of construction equipment including Genie, Skyjack and CAT.
Previous supervisory and leadership experience.
Excellent communication skills and a knack for making customers feel valued.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage daily schedules, coordinate materials and equipment and monitor inventory.
Strong computer skills and familiarity with Cat systems (ET and SIS would be considered an asset)
Ability to work effectively within a team environment with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.
Ability to work independently with excellent time management and organizational skills.
Ability to perform heavy lifting regularly up to 50lbs.
A strong commitment to safe work practices, environmental responsibility, and Battlefield’s health and safety policies.
A technical understanding of CAT equipment would be considered an asset.
A Licensed Heavy Equipment Mechanic
Flexibility to support on-call schedules and adapt to business demands.
Hydraulic system knowledge
Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and organized shop environment.
Ownership of personal tools required for the role.

Cat systems (ET and SIS would be considered an asset)
A technical understanding of CAT equipment would be considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Lead and mentor mechanics and QA staff through technical support and other teaching methods
Support and work with Branch Manager to increase Rent Ready percentage
Support and work with Branch Manager to increase the morale and engagement amongst the technicians
Perform assigned tasks with attention to detail and effectively organize all documentation
Work on the shop floor for 5 hours per day on equipment and special projects
Spend at least 30 minutes per day with each technician (inclusive in shop floor hours)
Meet with the Branch Manager once per day to assist in scheduling the technicians work for the following day
Assist the Branch’s Parts & Service Coordinator on parts procurement and supporting work order management
Communicate with the service manager to coordinate tasks and oversee the activities of the department.
Maintain accurate records of repair times and quality of work being performed.
Accurately review work orders, and parts requests to ensure repairs are being performed in accordance with quality standards.
Prepare and present accurate repair quotes to customers in a timely manner
Act as a technical advisor on major repairs when needed and provide support to mechanics with respect to troubleshooting, and repair best practices.
Assist mechanics with repairs when needed.
Ensure technicians are keeping up with their production goals and expectations.
Provide production, safety and updated work order reports to the service manager daily.
Help train, support and emphasize company initiatives with respect to bettering our repair and turnaround times.
Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure timely repairs and service delivery.
Collaborate seamlessly with your colleagues to create a supportive and efficient work environment.
Follow all workplace safety protocols and environmentally sound practices, making sure everyone stays safe.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workstation.
Ensure all team members are adhering to safety policies and procedures.
Help integrate new mechanics into the shop and ensure they follow existing procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
