MECH TECH J 3 (PAINTER)
About The Position
The Mechanical Technician J 3 (Painter) coats parts, assemblies, and finished products with protective or decorative materials, including paint, varnish, enamel, lacquer, dope, or stain, using a spray gun. The role selects and mixes coating materials and uses a brush or roller to coat areas inaccessible to a hand sprayer. The position may also monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. This role is with Newport News Shipbuilding, part of HII. It is full-time, has multiple shifts, and is not eligible for telework. U.S. citizenship is required. Travel is not required, and no relocation assistance is available.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent and five years of additional education and/or related experience; alternatively, an apprenticeship graduate or associate’s degree in a relevant discipline and three years of related experience.
- May require certification.
