About The Position

Fabricates, assembles, installs, and repairs production sheet metal products and equipment, including control boxes, drain pipes, ventilators, and furnace casings, in accordance with blueprints, drawings, and specifications. The role involves preparing sheet metal layouts; setting up and operating fabricating machinery; shaping metal over anvils, blocks, or forms; operating welding and soldering equipment; and inspecting assemblies and installations for conformance to specifications. May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures. This is a full-time position with multiple shifts at Newport News Shipbuilding. The position is not eligible for telework and requires U.S. citizenship. Travel and security clearance are not required to start. Relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and 5 years of additional education and/or related experience; alternatively, an apprentice graduate or associate's degree in a relevant discipline and 3 years of related experience.
May require certification.
U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
