About The Position

Performs repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment. Work is typically in one or more maintenance trades, including carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical work, sheet metal fabrication, and welding. Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to identify repair and maintenance work needed to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment. Uses hand and power tools; tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment; and works from blueprints, sketches, layouts, wiring diagrams, drawings, and specifications. This full-time position is with Newport News Shipbuilding and requires U.S. citizenship. It is not eligible for telework, has multiple shifts, and does not offer relocation assistance.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and two years of additional education and/or related experience; alternatively, apprentice graduate or associate's degree in a relevant discipline and one year of related experience.
May require certification.
U.S. citizenship is required for this position.
