About The Position

TC Energy is seeking a skilled Mechanical Technician for its US Gas Operations Upland Prairie team in Kansas, supporting the operation and maintenance of natural gas pipelines and associated facilities throughout Meade and the surrounding area. The role requires knowledge and experience with high-pressure natural gas pipelines and/or gas storage systems, including reciprocating engine compressors. The technician must be self-directed, able to work with minimal supervision, and have strong analytical, troubleshooting, and decision-making skills. The position involves operating, inspecting, troubleshooting, maintaining, and repairing pipeline, compressor, storage-field, and related mechanical equipment. It also includes planning and completing maintenance activities, recording work in SAP, and responding to emergency callouts. The role may require travel to other company locations, overnight stays, extended workdays or workweeks, and work in adverse weather and physically constrained conditions.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Relevant oil and gas industry experience.
Ability to understand and describe the operation of a four-cycle combustion engine.
Three years of mechanical experience with internal combustion engines.
Valid driver’s license and safe driving record, which must be maintained.
Successfully complete a pre-employment medical screening, including drug and alcohol testing.
Be available for callout 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and for extended workdays and/or workweeks for emergency response.
Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings, or training, including some overnight stays away from home.
Work in adverse weather and temperatures, and in conditions involving heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds and cramped spaces.
Legal authorization to work in the country where the position is based without restrictions.
Complete required background screening, which may include criminal and/or credit checks.
Driving a motor vehicle is an essential job function; following a conditional offer, the company will check applicants’ motor vehicle records.

Nice To Haves

Experience maintaining and troubleshooting turbine engines.
Knowledge of internal combustion engines, centrifugal gas compressors, and standby generators.
Experience with gas turbine engines.
Industrial experience in a plant environment.
Knowledge and experience in cathodic protection systems, including installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
Ability to conduct surveys and inspections to assess the effectiveness of cathodic protection systems.
Proficiency with cathodic protection equipment and tools, such as voltmeters, reference electrodes, and data loggers.
Understanding of industry standards and regulations related to cathodic protection.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications related to cathodic protection systems.
Experience preparing reports and documentation for cathodic protection activities.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, operate, and maintain gas-fired reciprocating engines, gas compressors, standby generator engines, centrifugal and diaphragm pumps, low-pressure boilers, oil coolers, air compressors, cooler fans and gearboxes, large-diameter valves and operators, and other auxiliary equipment.
Operate compressor engines and supporting equipment.
Maintain and repair pipelines.
Operate and maintain valves and operators.
Inspect, repair, and set regulators and relief valves.
Blow down, purge, and pressurize pipelines and/or stations.
Operate and maintain storage-field facilities.
Perform line locates on company pipelines and/or utility line patrols, and conduct associated right-of-way maintenance.
Plan, coordinate, and perform mechanical maintenance, including routine corrective and preventive maintenance, equipment and system improvements, and major maintenance projects.
Complete work orders, enter data into job plans, and create new work orders in SAP.
Perform other tasks as required.
