About The Position

Prepare and display meat items for sale in accordance with company standards and policies, while serving customers and providing customer service. Demonstrate the company’s leadership behaviors and its core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety. Maintain merchandise quality and freshness, keep work areas and equipment clean and organized, and follow company, health department, and applicable legal requirements.

Requirements

Willingness and availability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to read shelf tags, signs, product labels, and similar materials.
Ability and qualification to operate power tools and job equipment, including an automatic wrapper, slicer, grinder, power saw, and jack.
Ability to work safely with chemically based cleaning solutions.
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment and willingness to help department members.
Ability to handle stressful situations tactfully and calmly and make a positive impression on associates and customers.

Nice To Haves

Meat work experience or similar experience in food preparation.
A past work record reflecting dependability and integrity.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to employment practices, OSHA compliance, and food handling.

Responsibilities

Prepare and display merchandise neatly, efficiently, and in an orderly manner.
Check product quality to ensure products are fresh and safe, and rotate merchandise properly.
Maintain clean, organized sales areas, backrooms, and coolers; keep floors clean, safe, and free of clutter.
Keep carts, tools, and supplies in their designated areas and organized.
Maintain display cases to ensure proper inventory levels and freshness.
Unload trucks, sort merchandise, and prepare it for sale.
Build good customer and associate relations; communicate effectively with customers and fellow associates.
Promptly and cheerfully serve customers at the counter, greet them, and assist them in finding products.
Wash and sanitize equipment according to company and Health Department policies and procedures.
Make a clean, neat, and friendly impression on customers; remain prompt, tactful, calm, courteous, and professional in interactions.
Follow applicable department, company, state, and federal rules and duties.
Maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment.
Follow company policies and procedures, including those concerning dress code, grooming, food safety, sanitation, and maintaining a workplace free of unlawful harassment or discrimination.
Maintain equipment and facilities safely and properly in accordance with company policies and procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
