About The Position

The Meat Wrapper handles meat and meat products by weighing, wrapping, pricing, and labeling products. The role also involves stocking shelves, maintaining a clean work area, and providing attentive, courteous customer service. The Meat Wrapper follows company policies and applicable regulations for meat operations, safety, and sanitation, and follows the direction of the Meat Manager or Manager on Duty. No travel is required.

Requirements

• High school diploma with general studies.
• Ability to identify all cuts of meat.
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic math functions.
• Accurate vision.
• Ability to operate a wrapping machine, case cutter, baler/compactor, marking gun, and computerized scales.
• Physical ability to occasionally climb, balance, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, feel, taste, and smell; frequently push or pull loads up to 80 lb; and constantly stand, walk, lift or carry loads up to 100 lb, reach, handle, talk, and hear.
• Ability to work in environments with temperatures down to 35 degrees.

Nice To Haves

• 1–2 years of retail or meat department experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process, prepare, and package products according to company policy.
• Weigh, wrap, price, and label meat products, ensuring prices are correct and clearly marked.
• Follow Federal, State, and Local regulations and company policies regarding meat operations, safety, and sanitation.
• Maintain proper case conditions by cleaning, stocking, straightening, and rotating products to minimize shrink.
• Promote sales through courteous and friendly customer service.
• Follow direction from the Meat Manager or Manager on Duty and perform other duties as assigned.
