About The Position

Earth Fare Team Members help ensure customers have a fulfilling store visit by answering questions and meeting their shopping needs. Earth Fare’s mission is helping people live healthy lives, and Team Members guide customers toward healthy food and wellbeing and household products that meet the company’s standards. The Meat Cutter serves customers by helping them select cuts of meat, offering recommendations, and answering questions. The role includes safely cutting meat with hand tools and powered equipment, following product-safety procedures, maintaining inventory and displays, and keeping the department clean, sanitary, and organized. The Meat Cutter also collaborates with coworkers, cross-trains in other grocery departments, and assists elsewhere in the store as needed.

Requirements

Demonstrated ability to handle knives and other cutting equipment and follow safety procedures.
Friendly customer-service approach.
Ability to work with department team members.
Ability to follow directions from the department team leader.
Arrive at work on time and put in full effort.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
Able to reach frequently in all directions, stand for long periods, and frequently push or pull heavy carts or pallet jacks.

Nice To Haves

Customer service experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of meat cuts and cooking techniques preferred.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, help them select meat cuts, provide recommendations, and answer questions.
Follow safety protocols to prevent contamination and ensure meat is handled and stored properly.
Set and maintain meat and seafood cases and displays, and use FIFO principles to reduce waste.
Safely use hand tools and powered equipment, including grinders, cubing machines, and power saws, to cut meat.
Understand different cuts and types of meat and provide knowledgeable advice to customers.
Maintain cleanliness, sanitation, and organization throughout the department, including fixtures, storage areas, workstations, freezers, and coolers.
Work with other team members to support smooth store operations.
Participate in cross-training in departments such as produce, bakery, and customer service; assist in other departments as needed.
Adapt to varying roles and responsibilities and support coworkers across the store.
