About The Position

This position is for an MD Intervention Specialist focusing on Moderate-Intensive needs at Newark High School. The specialist will be responsible for identifying and addressing the unique social, emotional, and academic needs of individual students with handicapping conditions and at-risk students within an intervention or inclusion setting. This role involves developing and implementing tailored learning and behavior management strategies, utilizing student data for progress monitoring, and collaborating with a variety of stakeholders to ensure comprehensive student support.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Ohio Education of the Handicapped certificate/license (candidates with multiple special education validations preferred or Intervention Specialist – Moderate to Intensive).
  • Demonstrate the ability to be objective and flexible.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Be aware of the social and emotional needs of each individual student.
  • Identify individual student needs.
  • Creatively develop and implement integrated and functional activities to teach the content standards.
  • Effectively differentiate instruction.
  • Plan and implement a variety of behavior management strategies.
  • Efficiently use student data to determine individual needs, develop targeted learning plans, and monitor ongoing progress.
  • Serve students with a variety of handicapping conditions as well as some at-risk students within an intervention or inclusion setting.
  • Participate in department, building and district professional development opportunities relating to the education of students with disabilities.
  • Supervise classroom aides and guide their work with students.
  • Collaborate with parents, special and regular education staff, students, related service personnel, and community agencies in the delivery of services to students with disabilities.
