About The Position

This position is for an Intervention Specialist focusing on mild to moderate needs at Liberty Middle School. The role involves serving students with various handicapping conditions and at-risk students in intervention or inclusion settings. The specialist will be responsible for developing and implementing integrated activities, differentiating instruction, and using student data to create targeted learning plans. Effective behavior management and collaboration with various stakeholders are key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid Ohio Education of the Handicapped Licensed/Certificate with SLD, CD validation (candidates with multiple special education validations preferred) or Intervention Specialist: Mild-Moderate, Moderate-Intensive (Moderate-Intensive preferred)
  • Be aware of the social and emotional needs of each individual student
  • Demonstrate the ability to identify individual student needs
  • Possess strong communication and organizational skills
  • Be objective, flexible, and have an understanding of students with disabilities

Nice To Haves

  • Multiple special education validations preferred
  • Moderate-Intensive validation preferred

Responsibilities

  • Complete all IEPs and ETRs to remain compliant
  • Creatively develop and implement integrated and functional activities to teach the contact standards
  • Effectively differentiate instruction
  • Efficiently use student data to determine individual needs, develop targeted learning plans, and monitor ongoing progress
  • Serve students with a variety of handicapping conditions as well as at-risk students within an intervention or inclusion setting
  • Effectively plan, design and implement a variety of behavior management strategies
  • Collaborate with parents, special and regular education staff, students, related service personnel and community agencies in the delivery of services to students with disabilities
  • Supervise classroom aides, and guide their work with students
  • Participate in department, building and district professional development opportunities relating to the education of students with disabilities
