About The Position
Tonkin Mazda of Portland is hiring a Mazda Certified Automotive Technician to diagnose, inspect, and repair vehicles in a high-volume service department. The dealership offers state-of-the-art equipment, multiple alignment racks and tire machines, up to two bays depending on productivity, and clean employee locker and break rooms. Technicians receive paid in-person and online Mazda certification training, from Certified through Master, and reimbursement for ASE certifications. The role includes a flat-rate pay plan; top performers may bill upwards of 150 hours per pay period. The team emphasizes internal promotion, professional growth, training, teamwork, and career paths across multiple brands and departments. The schedule is Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Saturday, with hours that may vary. Requirements
- 1–3 years of automotive repair or diagnostic experience.
- Personal tools.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.
Nice To Haves
- Mazda certification is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform automotive diagnostics and inspections.
- Repair engine failures and mechanical and electrical systems, and replace parts.
- Follow manufacturer specifications throughout the repair and servicing process.
- Mentor and assist other technicians on the Service Team.
