Math Instructor II / Tutor
About The Position
Mathnasium is a math-only learning center serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The Math Instructor creates a welcoming environment for students and families and provides effective, concise math instruction after training in Mathnasium’s methods. Instructors motivate students and help build their confidence in math while contributing to a positive and productive learning environment. They work with the Center Manager and staff to evaluate and track student progress and perform operational functions as needed. The position is in person and part time, with two shifts per week. The posting lists availability of at least three days per week, with available hours Monday through Thursday from 3–7 p.m. and Sunday from 12–4 p.m. Compensation is $17.00–$18.50 per hour. Requirements
- Passion for math and working with students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and be trained.
- Math competency through at least Algebra I.
- Ability to balance various ongoing tasks.
- High school diploma.
- Availability at least three days per week during the listed hours: Monday through Thursday, 3–7 p.m., and Sunday, 12–4 p.m.
- Pass a math literacy test demonstrating math proficiency.
- Provide work authorization.
- Pass a background check.
Responsibilities
- Teach or tutor in-center, online, and/or through hybrid delivery using the Mathnasium Method, terminology, and teaching practices.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver individualized instruction in a group setting.
- Assess students’ learning progress and engagement during instructional sessions.
- Become proficient with digital educational materials and processes.
- Help maintain a safe and professional learning environment.
- Help evaluate and track student progress through communication with the Center Manager and staff.
- Perform operational functions as required.
