Math Instructor II / Tutor
About The Position
Mathnasium is seeking a passionate, friendly, and enthusiastic Math Instructor II to help students learn math. The organization serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade with individualized instruction and aims to create an exceptional learning experience for students and families. The instructor will be trained to provide effective, concise math instruction and to create an engaging, positive, and productive learning environment that builds students’ confidence and understanding of the program. The role includes in-center, online, and/or hybrid instruction, collaboration with team members, monitoring students’ learning progress and engagement, and supporting a safe, professional learning environment. Instructors also communicate with the Center Manager and staff about student progress and perform operational functions as required. The position is described as in-person and part-time, with two shifts per week; applicants must be available at least three days a week. Compensation is $17.00–$18.50 per hour.
Requirements
- Passion for math and working with students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and be trained.
- Math competency through at least Algebra I.
- Ability to balance various ongoing tasks.
- High school diploma.
- Available at least three days a week.
- Pass a math literacy test demonstrating math proficiency.
- Provide work authorization.
- Pass a background check.
Responsibilities
- Teach and tutor using the Mathnasium Method™, terminology, and teaching practices in-center, online, and/or through hybrid delivery.
- Collaborate with team members to provide individualized instruction in a group setting.
- Assess students’ learning progress and engagement during instructional sessions.
- Become proficient with digital educational materials and processes.
- Help maintain a safe and professional learning environment.
- Communicate with the Center Manager and staff to assist in evaluating and tracking student progress.
- Perform operational functions as required.
