Math Instructor II / Tutor
About The Position
Mathnasium is a neighborhood math-only learning center whose mission is to serve the community by changing lives through math. The center provides math instruction to students from kindergarten through 12th grade, with families as a priority. The Math Instructor creates a welcoming environment for students and families and provides effective, concise math instruction after training. The role motivates students and supports an engaging, positive, productive learning environment. Instructors help evaluate and track student progress through communication with the Center Manager and staff, and perform operational functions as required. Instruction may be delivered in-center, online, and/or through a hybrid format. This is an in-person, part-time position listed as two shifts per week, with flexible after-school and weekend hours. Compensation is $17.00–$18.50 per hour.
Requirements
- Passion for math and working with students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and be trained.
- Exceptional math competency through at least Algebra I.
- Ability to balance various ongoing tasks.
- High school diploma.
- Available at least 3 days a week during the stated availability windows: Monday–Thursday, 3 PM–7 PM; Friday, 3 PM–6 PM; or Saturday, 9 AM–1 PM.
- Monday and Thursday availability at 3 PM is preferred in the requirements section.
- Take a math literacy test to demonstrate math proficiency.
- Provide work authorization and pass a background check.

Responsibilities
- Teach or tutor in-center, online, and/or via hybrid delivery using the Mathnasium Method™, terminology, and teaching practices.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver individualized instruction in a group setting.
- Assess students’ learning progress and engagement throughout instructional sessions.
- Become proficient with digital educational materials and processes.
- Support the maintenance of a safe and professional learning environment.
- Help evaluate and track student progress through effective communication with the Center Manager and staff.
- Perform operational functions as required.
