Math Instructor II / Tutor
About The Position
Mathnasium is a math-only learning center serving students from kindergarten through 12th grade. The Math Instructor creates a welcoming environment for students and families and provides effective, concise math instruction after completing training. Instructors motivate students and help build their confidence in an engaging, positive, and productive learning environment. They also help evaluate and track student progress through communication with the Center Manager and staff, and perform operational duties as required. The position is in person and part time, with two shifts per week. Candidates must be available at least three days a week during the listed availability windows: Monday through Friday, 3 PM–7 PM, and Saturday, 9 AM–1 PM. Compensation is $17.00–$18.50 per hour. Requirements
- Passion for math and working with students.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn and be trained.
- Exceptional math competency through at least Algebra I; math proficiency through algebra is also specified.
- Ability to balance various ongoing tasks.
- High school diploma.
- Availability at least three days a week during the stated scheduling windows.
- Pass a math literacy test, provide work authorization, and pass a background check.
Responsibilities
- Teach or tutor in-center, online, and/or through hybrid delivery using the Mathnasium Method™, terminology, and teaching practices.
- Collaborate with team members to deliver individualized instruction in a group setting.
- Assess students’ learning progress and engagement during instructional sessions.
- Become proficient with digital educational materials and processes.
- Support the maintenance of a safe and professional learning environment.
- Communicate with the Center Manager and staff to help evaluate and track student progress.
- Perform operational functions as required.
