The Materials & Processes Engineering and Mechanical Disciplines (MPE + MD) department is seeking talented engineering candidates to join our summer internship program. Requirements

  • Must be pursuing Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major and actively enrolled through the completion of the internship session.
  • Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship session.
  • Experience with common materials characterization and test methods. This may include but is not limited to mechanical test methods, thermal analysis, spectroscopy and microscopy methods.
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Candidate should have an interest in building a technical career in applied materials development and characterization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in teams as both a leader and a participant
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for engine component evaluation, materials and/or chemical process development, analyses, testing and other support functions for both commercial and military jet engine applications.
  • Specific tasks may include mechanical testing, structural analysis or structural software tool development, materials analysis, metallurgical or chemical analysis, inspection processes or coating property analysis.
  • Document and analyze data/results, prepare reports and presentations, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on experimental findings.
