About The Position

The Materials & Processes Engineering and Mechanical Disciplines (MPE + MD) department is seeking talented engineering candidates to join our Engineering Development Program. This program provides hands-on training to help build a career in aerospace, offering professional growth and training to become a future leader. College undergraduate and graduate hires complete three to four assignments over 36 months to build technical breadth and leadership abilities, complemented by discipline-specific training. Rotations may include materials development for aerospace alloys, coatings and polymers/composites; materials and engine component analysis; process and analytical chemistry; non-destructive evaluation; mechanics of material and component behavior; fatigue and fracture mechanics modeling; high cycle fatigue / vibrations analytical capabilities; system strength modeling; materials property and process modeling; and material data analysis, statistics and applications to engine design. Following the program, participants are expected to outplace in a group that aligns with their longer-term career goals and interests.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Experience with common materials characterization and test methods. This may include but is not limited to mechanical test methods, thermal analysis, spectroscopy and microscopy methods
  • Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools and demonstrated experience working effectively in teams as both a leader and a participant.
  • Prior RTX internship, co-op, or work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for engine component, materials and/or chemical process development, analyses, testing and other support functions for both commercial and military engine applications.
  • Specific tasks may include mechanical testing, structural analysis or structural software tool development, materials analysis, metallurgical or chemical analysis, inspection processes or coating property analysis.
  • Document and analyze data/results, prepare reports and presentations, draw conclusions and make recommendations based on their findings.
