About The Position

Metrolinx’s GO Expansion program is delivering more GO service across the network, including the capacity to deliver two-way service every 15 minutes or better on core routes. Work is already underway on new track, station renovations and infrastructure upgrades on parts of the Lakeshore, Stouffville, Kitchener and Barrie lines. The investment will generate thousands of new jobs and economic opportunities across the region. The ONxpress Civil Joint Venture is comprised of Aecon Infrastructure Management Inc. and FCC Canada Ltd. This multidisciplinary team leads the delivery of civil and track works, leveraging global expertise to introduce innovative solutions across the GO Transit network. This role is a newly created position within the ONxpress Civils (“CJV” aka the Design & Construction team); the project segment responsible for the modernization and modification of the key area network, including countless innovations in the way the regional rail infrastructure is built.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in materials coordination, logistics, procurement support, or site‑based project coordination within railway, civil, or large infrastructure construction projects.
  • Hands‑on experience working with ERP or materials management systems (SAP preferred).
  • Working knowledge of Canadian construction and rail‑related codes, standards, and specifications (CSA, ASTM, and project‑specific requirements).
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple site priorities in a fast‑paced, safety‑critical environment.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a collaborative, service‑oriented mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Post‑secondary education in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Engineering, Construction Management, or Materials & Operations Management (college or university level); considered an asset.
  • Enrollment in or completion of SCMP or similar accreditation is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Canadian rail or transit authority requirements (e.g., Metrolinx, TTC, CN, CP, VIA Rail) is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Has primary responsibility for the day‑to‑day site coordination, tracking, and consolidation of material requirements for a wide range of railway construction materials, components, and services.
  • Coordinates and tracks material orders from requisition through delivery, ensuring alignment with short‑term construction sequencing, look‑ahead schedules, and site priorities.
  • Prepares and processes purchase requisitions and related documentation to ensure clarity, accuracy, and completeness, including material descriptions, quantities, delivery requirements, and applicable quality, inspection, and compliance requirements.
  • Ensures drawings, technical specifications, standards, and client‑specific requirements are properly identified, reviewed, and included with requisitions.
  • Acts as a primary site‑level liaison between Project Management, Logistics, Quality, and Construction teams, ensuring materials are delivered in accordance with approved schedules, safety requirements, and quality standards.
  • Coordinates logistics, freight, and delivery arrangements, including domestic and cross‑border shipments, as assigned. This includes coordination with carriers and logistics providers for scheduled deliveries, monitoring and tracking in‑transit materials, and planning deliveries to active construction sites and rail corridors.
  • Monitors and expedites material deliveries to support near‑term construction needs, identifying critical or high‑risk items and escalating potential risks or delays to the Materials Manager.
  • Performs and coordinates receiving activities, including verification of deliveries against purchase orders and packing lists, coordination of inspections with QA/QC personnel, documentation of shortages, damages, or non‑conformances, and completion of goods receipt transactions in SAP or other materials management systems.
  • Manages site‑level inventory control, including tracking materials across site yards and designated storage locations, performing cycle counts and physical inventory verification, monitoring material issuance and usage by construction crews, and identifying excess or surplus materials for reporting.
  • Tracks loading and unloading activities, ensuring safe handling practices and compliance with site‑specific and rail corridor safety requirements.
  • Supports quality compliance and document control by collecting and maintaining required quality records, including material certificates and compliance documentation, inspection and release notes, and non‑conformance reports (NCRs).
  • Ensures all materials‑related activities at the site comply with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) requirements, including safe storage, handling, and transportation of materials.
  • Follows and supports the continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) related to materials handling, logistics coordination, inventory control, and documentation.
