Hrly Branch Material Handler
About The Position
EJ is seeking a Material Handler for its Phoenix, New York branch. The position supports and assists the sales function by moving, loading, and unloading materials and products, primarily by hand or forklift. The employee works an 8-hour shift with a 30-minute lunch break and is expected to promote company values and maintain a safe work environment. EJ is a family-owned company founded in 1883 and headquartered in East Jordan, Michigan. It designs, manufactures, and distributes access solutions for water, sewer, drainage, telecommunications, and utility networks. EJ employs over 2,500 people, operates in 13 countries, and sells products in over 100 countries. Requirements
- High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Driver’s license.
- Forklift license.
- Ability to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to perform the essential duties satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations available for individuals with disabilities.
Responsibilities
- Promote the company culture, mission, vision, and core values, including its safety beliefs, employee engagement, competencies, code of conduct, and policies and procedures.
- Promote safety awareness, accident prevention, and employee involvement in maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ensure employees understand the organization’s safety expectations.
- Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine materials to be moved.
- Load and unload materials onto or from pallets and trucks by hand or forklift.
- Install strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent materials from shifting or being damaged in transit.
- Lift heavy objects by hand or with a forklift.
- Clean the work area, machines, and equipment.
- Operate a forklift to assist with loading, unloading, or moving materials and products.
