About The Position

BlueLinx is hiring a Material Handler/Forklift Operator at its distribution center. The role supports the safe and efficient handling, storage, and distribution of building materials. The position pays a fixed rate of $29 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage; actual compensation may depend on experience, qualifications, skills, location, and other job-related considerations. The schedule is Monday through Friday.

Requirements

• One year of recent forklift or warehouse experience.
• Ability to safely and proficiently use a forklift to transport products and load and unload trucks.
• Ability to understand and follow directions.
• Ability to work independently at times under pressure.
• Ability to handle physical tasks, including lifting up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to read and comprehend sales orders, purchase orders, safety materials, and similar documents.
• Safe work record and stable work history.

Responsibilities

• Operate a forklift in compliance with forklift training and safety guidelines.
• Load, unload, and store building materials from trailers or rail cars while minimizing damage.
• Store and retrieve materials, including piece-pick and bulk materials.
• Prepare paperwork required for product distribution and shipping.
• Perform daily equipment inspections and maintenance.
• Maintain cleanliness and tidiness in the work and assigned areas.
• Assist with periodic inventory counts as requested.
