Material Handler - Mill Operations $23.00/hr. + $1.00/hr. shift premium for off shifts
About The Position
Atkore is seeking a Material Handler for Mill Operations, based in Hobart, Indiana. Reporting to the Production Supervisor, the role supports production and distribution by pulling orders from inventory, delivering production materials and supplies, and staging finished products. The position pays $23.00 per hour, with a $1.00-per-hour shift premium for off shifts. The Material Handler operates powered industrial trucks (PITs), loads and unloads materials and products, transports materials throughout loading, storage, and manufacturing areas, manages inventory transactions, packages or repackages goods, and services manufacturing lines efficiently to avoid impacting production. Within three months, the employee is expected to operate and inspect PITs, report equipment issues, safely stack bundles of long products, follow Atkore safety rules, and load and unload semi trucks.
Requirements
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- One year of material handling experience in an industrial environment or equivalent training.
- Previous forklift experience is required.
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience driving a side-loader forklift is strongly preferred.
- Previous experience handling long products and bundles of material is strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate different powered industrial trucks (PITs), including large-format Combi-Lifts.
- Load and unload incoming and outgoing materials and products.
- Move materials to and from loading docks, delivery trucks, storage areas, and manufacturing areas.
- Stack skids, crates, or dunnage in designated areas; clean and dispose of scrap.
- Manage inventory using scan guns and complete required transactions.
- Safely package or repackage raw or finished goods using manual banding equipment.
- Service manufacturing lines efficiently to avoid impacting production.
- Inspect PITs and report any issues.
- Safely stack bundles of long products.
- Load and unload semi trucks.
- Follow Atkore safety rules.
