Material Handler
About The Position
The Material Handler receives, stores, and distributes products in refrigerated and/or frozen warehouse areas. The role involves moving products and materials using electric-powered forklifts or hand trucks, placing items in designated storage locations, preparing orders, and maintaining records of received and distributed materials. Work takes place in temperatures ranging from 0 to 36 degrees, with gear provided. Available schedules include day and night shifts, with specified Wednesday-through-Saturday hours. Day shifts start at up to $24.00–$25.00 per hour, and night shifts start at up to $26.25–$27.25 per hour; the stated rates include a perfect-attendance incentive when applicable.
Requirements
- Pass a pre-employment math and safety test.
- Be able to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Be able to work in temperatures from 0 to 36 degrees with provided gear.
- Be able to lift heavy objects.
- Be willing to learn and operate heavy equipment such as forklifts.
- Applicants with good job longevity are sought.
Nice To Haves
- Familiarity with warehouse operations and materials handling.
- Prior experience with order picking or shipping and receiving.
Responsibilities
- Read shipping and picking orders to identify items to move, gather, or distribute.
- Operate electric-powered forklifts or hand trucks to transport loaded pallets to designated warehouse areas or storage racks.
- Load and unload products and materials onto and off pallets, skids, or lifting devices.
- Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to sequence, size, type, or product code.
- Mark materials with identifying information.
- Lift, count, sort, and place products on pallets according to order-fill instructions or special requirements.
- Prepare and record order-fill tickets and truck logs in accordance with company standards.
- Record quantities of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weigh or count items distributed within the plant to ensure they meet company standards.
