About The Position
Loads, unloads, and moves materials within the Welding Department. Stages jobs according to supervisor instructions; handles incoming and outgoing products; retrieves and issues components and fixtures from inventory; and keeps the work area clean and organized. The role includes operating a forklift or electric hoist and completing daily forklift safety inspections and required paperwork.
Responsibilities
- Stage jobs according to supervisor’s instruction.
- Perform daily safety inspections of the department forklift and complete required paperwork.
- Read work orders or follow oral instructions to determine which materials or containers to move.
- Compare identifying information and count, weigh, or measure products coming into and going out of the department.
- Load and unload materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or forklift.
- Attach identifying tags or labels to materials, or mark information on cases and other containers.
- Use the job traveler to select the appropriate move ticket for subsequent operations.
- Safely operate an industrial forklift truck or electric hoist to assist in loading or moving materials and products in the Welding Department.
- Retrieve components and fixtures from inventory according to the job traveler, issue components, and verify counts.
- Locate components and enter their locations in the computer.
- Clean and organize the work area.
