About The Position
The Material Handler/Forklift Operator receives, stores, and distributes products in refrigerated and/or frozen warehouse rooms. This full-time, on-site position is located in Newport News, Virginia, and works Monday through Friday from 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. On-site training is provided. The hourly pay range is $20.00–$22.00. The role involves interpreting shipping and picking orders, moving products with electric-powered forklifts or hand trucks, handling and organizing materials, and recording order and inventory information. Other duties may be assigned.
Responsibilities
- Read shipping and picking orders to determine items to be moved, gathered, or distributed.
- Operate electric-powered forklifts or electric-powered hand trucks to transport loaded pallets to designated warehouse areas or storage racks.
- Load and unload products and other materials onto and off pallets, skids, or lifting devices.
- Sort and place materials on racks, shelves, or in bins according to sequence, size, type, or product code.
- Mark materials with identifying information.
- Lift, count, sort, and place products on pallets according to order-fill instructions or special requirements.
- Prepare and record order-fill tickets and truck logs (load sheets) according to company standards.
- Record amounts of materials or items received or distributed.
- Weigh or count items distributed within the plant to ensure they conform to company standards.
